What is your conviction?

Vyakti Nishthā, Sangh Nishthā, Dhyeya Nishthā

Regular discussions on the development of kāryakartās and how we can ensure everyone, especially our youth remain motivated and inspired to attend shākha regularly and remain lifelong effective kāryakartās for our cause are important.

One such discussion can be on one’s conviction (nishthā) to attend shākhā and the transition of that conviction — from Vyakti Nishthā to Sangh Nishthā to Dhyeya Nishthā.

Generally, when we start to attend shākha, we attend due to a particular person bringing us. That person becomes our conviction or reason to attend shākhā. For example, a parent or a friend, this is known as Vyakti Nishthā.

Our attendance results in developing a group of friends. We then attend shākhā for the purpose of meeting and playing with our friends or a particular group, this is known as Sangh Nishthā. We will attend up until our friends attend. Our conviction and reason for attending shākhā is to connect with and meet our friends, and we mainly attend as long as our friends are attending.

Finally, that Nishthā — conviction transforms to attending shākhā not because of any particular person or group, but for the cause, the mission of Sangh, for the purpose of spreading Dharma, for organising the Hindu society, for developing more kāryakartās, this is known as Dhyeya Nishthā.

Dhyeya means mission or aim and Dhyeya Nishthā is where we want to be. This will ensure we and those around us continue to work for the mission.

What is your conviction? How can we ensure we transition ourselves and others from Vyakti Nishthā and Sangh Nishthā to Dhyeya Nishthā? Something for us to reflect on.
